Friday, December 13th, Teresa Cannon organized a Zoom meeting on behalf of the Voices for Children.  Nyse Holloman, the director of the organization for the Genesee & Shiawassee area, spoke to us about Voices for Children.  It was an amazing meeting and so much information was shared as she spoke.

Voices for Children Advocacy Center was created to help children of abused situations feel safe and comfortable.  They have created an environment where they can talk to trained professionals, but also feel like they are heard and safe as well. There are over 40 Advocacy centers in the State of Michigan, and you are welcome to go to the following website and get information for a center in your area.  cacami.org/find-your-local-cac/

Their goal, and ours as well, is to raise awareness of Voices for Children and the abuse of children in our State and to help do something about it.  They, along with GFWC MI, would like to form a circle of Advocacy to help our children and families live the life they so deserve.

Once you are familiar with the Agency in your area, you can reach out to them and tell them of your support and see if there are ways of helping.  One way the director told us about is providing snacks.  This makes the children feel comfortable and willing to speak to the people there.

GFWC MI is devoted to helping GFWC make people aware of domestic violence and child abuse in our country. We may never eradicate domestic violence and child abuse completely, but we can sure try to make people aware of their surroundings and perhaps that one family or child can be helped.  One family, one child at a time!  Let’s make a difference.
